My portraits are oil on canvas and can be ordered in various sizes. For clients in the Northern Illinois area, I set up one or more appointments to meet the subject of the portrait, take photographs and get to know the person being painted. It is helpful to meet in person or over a video call to create a portrait, but not essential. The first two portraits below were created using a variety of photographs furnished by the client. Portrait of a professor

This portrait was commissioned by the Bay Area Mormon Studies Council as a gift for a retiring professor. They requested that I include his mentor in the portrait, so I incorporated him in the mirror reflection. The professor is simultaneously looking forward to the viewer and also engaged with his mentor in the reflection.

Portrait of a Friend
This friend expressed an interest in a portrait depicting herself at home, comfortably seated with her dog curled up next to her. We spent time sitting in her home and taking pictures of her in places inside and outside of her home. After reviewing the photos, she decided that she wanted to choose the location in her family room where her children would often see her. Her casual elegance shines through.
